So, what’s the buzz? We’ve noticed that a few of our awesome Android users—more precisely those rocking Android 13—might be having a bit of trouble with the gallery feature when trying to select photos. If this sounds like you, don’t worry, you’re not alone! Here’s the lowdown:
When you try to open your gallery to select a photo, you might see a prompt asking for permission to access pictures and videos. After giving the green light, instead of whisking you away to your photo gallery, the app might act a bit shy and pretend you said no. 😅
Who’s affected?
- Affected: Users on Android 13 (SDK 33) and higher
- Not Affected: Users on Android 10 and lower as well as iOS users
- Unconfirmed: Users on Android 11 and 12
Why is this happening?
In the simplest terms, our app is using a certain tool (we techies call it “Capacitor” in its version 4) to help you select photos. But on the newest Android version, this tool is being a bit finicky and not playing nice with the gallery permission settings.
What are we doing about it?
Our brilliant team of developers is on the case! 🕵️♀️ They’ve identified that this little gremlin can be smoothed out with an update to a newer version of our tool (version 5!). However, as with all good things, this takes a bit of time and testing to ensure everything runs as smoothly as butter.

While we polish things up, if you find yourself needing to select a photo and it’s not working, remember you can still snap a fresh picture directly from the app and keep on creating amazing content!
